Abstract:

The aim of the present study was to analyze the live weight, body length, and chest perimeter in Blackhead Pleven lambs at an early age with a view to their future use as prognostic indicators of growth performance. The study was conducted with 46 lambs. It found out that at birth and weaning the singletons had higher live weight and higher average daily weight gain in comparison with the twins (P

Effect of Synbiotic on Performance, Intestinal Morphology, Fecal Microbial Population and Blood Metabolites of Suckling Lambs

The effects of synbiotic supplementation to the Moghani suckling lambs diet were investigated using 18 lambs (initial BW 5-6 kg, age 3±2 day) were divided into 3 groups and fed experimental diets for 90 days. The dietary treatments were: 1) control (lambs were fed with mother’s milk, along with their normal diets), 2) control + 3 g of synbiotic and control and 3) control + 6 g of synbiotic for ...

The Effects of Different Levels of Prebiotic and Peptide Supplementations on Growth Performance, Apparent Digestibility Nutrients and Fecal Score in Suckling Zell Lambs

This study investigated the effects of different levels of prebiotic and peptide supplementations on growth performance, apparent digestibility of nutrients and fecal score in suckling Zell lambs. A completely randomized experiment was designed with a factorial arrangement of 3×2 containing 36 male suckling Zell lambs at the age of 10 days and with a mean weight of 4.4±0.33 kg for 70 days. The ...

Catch-up growth in the rat skull after retardation during the suckling period.

In rats whose growth was restricted by rearing in large litters the skull was less affected than the spine and the brain case less than the face. Analyses of hormones progesterone and LH in untreated ewes were used, together with other ...

Scintigraphic evaluation of abomasal emptying rate in neonatal suckling lambs

Evaluation of gastric emptying rate using nuclear scintigraphy as the gold standard method has been studied in various animals, but there is no report in suckling lambs. The aim of this study was to develop a nuclear scintigraphic method to visualize and measure abomasal emptying rate by estimation of scintigraphic half emptying time (T1/2) in the live neonatal lamb. Five healthy, female Irania...
